We are a body of baptized believers from various backgrounds that have been united in Christ to serve His purposes in the Mount Forest area and around the world as God enables.
We hold that salvation is found in our God, Jesus Christ, alone;
Obtained through faith alone;
By the working of grace alone;
As revealed in the Bible, the inerrant Word of God, alone.
We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal; existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God; that the sixty-six books as originally written, comprising the Old and New Testaments, were fully inspired by the Spirit of God and therefore entirely free from error; that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pe. 1:21
God
We believe in one God, Creator of all, who created the world in 6 literal days. We believe He is holy, sovereign, eternal; existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Matt. 28:19; Lk. 1:35; Jn. 10:30; 2 Cor. 13:14Jesus Christ
We believe in the absolute and essential deity of Jesus Christ, in His eternal existence with the Father in pre-incarnate glory, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return.
Gen. 32:22-30; Ju, 6:11-22; Is. 7:14, Is. 53:5; Zech. 2:10-12; Mt. 1:18-25; Mk. 13:26; Lk.1:26-38, 10:21-22; Lk. 24:39, 50-51; Jn. 1:1, 18; 5:17-23; 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Cor. 15:1-4; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 9:15; 1 Pe. 2:22; 1 Pe. 3:18; Rev. 19:11-20:6
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who convinces of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates, and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Mt. 12:28; Jn. 14:26; Ro. 15:16; 2 Pe. 1:21
Satan
We believe that Satan exists as an evil personality, the originator of sin and the arch-enemy of God and man.
Gen. 3:4,5; Jn. 8:44, Rev. 20:2
Man
We believe that man was divinely created in the image of God; that he sinned, becoming guilty before God, resulting in total depravity, thereby incurring physical and spiritual death.
Gen. 1:26, Ro. 1:18-25, 3:23, 5:12, Rev. 20:10, 14, 15
Salvation
We believe that salvation is ordained by the sovereign, electing grace of God. By the appointment of the Father, Jesus Christ voluntarily suffered a vicarious, expiatory, and propitiatory death and was raised again claiming dominion over death. Justification is by faith alone in the all sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Those whom God called are saved by grace through faith. They shall be divinely preserved and finally perfected.
Jn. 10:28; Ro. 5:1, 10:9, 10; 1 Cor. 15; Eph. 2:8; Phil. 3:9-11; Heb. 10:14; 1 Jn. 2:2
Future Things
We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We also believe in His literal 1000 year reign. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed and in the judgement and conscious eternal punishment of the wicked.
Mt. 18:8,9; Acts 3:19-21; 1 Cor. 4:5; Phil. 1:10; 1 Thess. 1:9,10; Jude 13; Rev. 20:1-10, 14, 15
Local Church
We believe that a local church is a company of immersed believers, called out from the world, separated unto the Lord Jesus, voluntarily associated for the ministry of the Word, the mutual edification of its members, the propagation of the faith and the observance of the ordinances. We believe it is a sovereign; independent body, exercising the gifts and privileges God has given under the Lordship of Christ, the Head of the Church. We believe that its leaders are elders and deacons.
Col. 3:16; 1 Thess. 1:7, 8; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Ti. 1:5-9; Heb. 10:24-25; 1 Pe. 5:1-11
Ordinances
We believe that there are only two ordinances for the church regularly observed in the New Testament in the following order:
Baptism, which is the immersion of the believer in water, whereby he/she obeys Christ’s command and sets forth his/her identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Mt. 28:19, 20; Acts 10:48, 22:16; 1 Cor. 12:13; 1 Pe. 3:21
The Lord’s Supper, which is the memorial wherein the believer partakes of the two elements, the bread and the cup, which symbolize the Lord’s body and shed blood, proclaiming His death until He comes again.
Mt. 26:17-30; Lk. 22:19-20, 24:30; Acts 20:7
The Church and The State
We believe in the entire separation of church and state.
2 Chron. 26:18; Mt. 18:15-17, 22:21; Jn. 18:36; Ro. 13:1-7
Religious Freedom
We believe Christianity is to be practiced and promoted.
Mt. 28:19-20
The Lord’s Day
We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day and that, it is the divinely appointed day for worship and spiritual exercise.
Gen. 2:1-3, Deut. 5:12-15; Ez. 20:12, Jn. 20:1, Acts 20:7, 1 Cor. 16:1-2
Civil Government
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honoured and obeyed, except only in the things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the Prince of the kings of the earth.
